PROJECT SCOPE

Himes Associates Ltd. was originally hired to provide a limited scope of services to America Online (February 1999). Specifically move supervision and post move assistance  for their newest building, 230,000 Creative Center 2 (CC2) on their Dulles, VA campus.  With the success of this 4 phase move and the commitment to providing AOL with the most cost and time effective relocation solutions.  We have built our relationship to a level of trust and respect as valued members of the AOL relocation team.  With our previous experience with large multi-phased relocations, such as Mobil Oil Corporation, and the opportunity to objectively view the clients needs we’ve been able to implement standard relocation procedures to reduce demands on management and streamline the relocation process.  By working as an adjunct to the AOL facility staff, we’ve successfully teamed to develop what works best for their organization.

AOL has an annual churn rate of 80% and is in the process of consolidating multiple Virginia sites to their Dulles campus, which will include 3 new buildings, Creative Center 3,4 & 5.  AOL’s meteoric ride into the technology industry has been extraordinary.  They have grown from 400,000 square feet in 1996 to 4,000,000 square feet in 1999. By establishing an overall relocation plan, master move database, relocation budget, move committee meetings, employees seminars, relocation guide, mover/vendor RFP, on-site supervision and invoice reconciliation, we have been able to implement these procedure in their large multi-phased moves and are in the process of standardizing their daily moves as will.  Because of Himes mission of identifying and mitigating risks while implementing the most cost effective solutions to our clients needs, we have forged a long term partnership with AOL that is mutually beneficial.
