Paul Himes is the Chief Executive Officer of Himes Associates, Ltd. He is thoroughly involved with the production of all development, program and construction management projects. Paul is directly responsible for all consulting services, as well as the strategic aspects of Himes including but not limited to the structure of the deal, structure of development and construction and design team composition. Himes’ work is strictly from an owner’s advocate position, regardless of the contractual role that Himes may take.
When not in the office, Paul enjoys speaking publicly to local, national and international audiences about topics such as real estate support disciplines, project management development, construction consulting objectives and construction litigation. He is also a founding faculty member, with the support of George Mason University and the International Facility Managers Association, of the facility management certification educational curriculum at GMU. Paul is an active private pilot and flies missions regularly in support of Angel Flight and additional charity benefits. He also enjoys travelling, photography, reading and scuba diving.
Lauren is a President at Himes and the President/Managing Partner at Himes Project Management, LLC. The foundation of her career started in civil engineering and environmental science, with a focus on natural resource consulting for large-scale land development projects. Starting as an intern working through the survey and environmental departments of a civil firm, she found a passion for being on construction sites and understands the value of having “boots on the ground” and “time in the trailer”. She continues to have a strong interest in natural resources and sustainability and maintains her professional wetland delineator license and Arborist certification.
Lauren has led and managed multidisciplinary teams through all project stages and enjoys connecting with all stakeholders throughout the process. She works with teams to ensure that all voices are heard and that the project vision is clear; in turn, the Himes Team finds solutions to the real problems and pains of our clients.
Outside of the office, Lauren stays active with her husband and any foster children they currently have, as well as their 3 dogs. Lauren is also a co-captain with Paul Himes (CEO) on “Himes Island Air” and has been a pilot since she was a teenager.
Andrew Watson is an experienced industry professional who spearheads the Himes’ Mission Critical Division. He manages all aspects of Data Center project management, with a passion for MEP equipment given his background in Mechanical Engineering. While at Himes, Andrew’s portfolio has included over 1 billion dollars of data center construction and fit-out. A collaborative member of the Northern Virginia mission critical community, Andrew extensively networks within the industry through his 7×24 DC Chapter Treasury and Community Outreach Committee Memberships. He is also a member of AFCOM’s Potomac Chapter and regularly attends CAPRE, BISNOW, NVTC, and DC Connections events. Away from the office Andrew is a devoted father to his daughter. He is active within Scouts BSA as a District Eagle Representative, Cub Scout Den Leader and Troop Assistant Scoutmaster. He enjoys camping, golfing, working out, reading, video gaming and playing classical guitar.
Mike Swingle has been with Himes Associates for over 20 years and leads the Himes Tenant Interiors and Base Building Division. With his extensive background in entitlements, team building, procurements, master project scheduling, logistics and project budgeting, Mike has successfully managed the completion of over 8 million SF of corporate office space during his time with Himes.
Away from the office Mike enjoys cooking, hockey, lacrosse, college football, coaching youth sports, and above all spending time exploring new destinations with his wife and two children!
Becky is the Financial Manager at Himes Associates, Ltd. and brings outstanding management, organization and support to our overall team and clients. She handles all the financial aspects of the firm and has been a very valuable asset to the team for over 15 years. Away from the office, Becky enjoys spending time with her husband, children and their dog.
Chris Kelly is the Utility & Energy Division Lead providing leadership and oversight to Himes Utilities Division. He currently serves as the Project Executive for our clients in the Baltimore region. Chris joined the Himes team in 2016 bringing a diverse background of construction experience including complex base-building projects, major renovations, and mission critical work ranging from Healthcare to Higher Education to Commercial Real Estate. This unique range of experience has enabled Chris the ability to support clients in different market sectors with industry specific knowledge and understanding.
Chris achieved a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Maryland College Park with a dream to design and build bridges. After working with an ENR top 100 contractor right out of school, he caught the commercial construction bug and has never looked back. In his free time, Chris enjoys travelling with his wife and daughter, getting out in nature and enjoying the local cultural scene in Baltimore.
Dennis received his degree in Architecture from the Pennsylvania State University and has been practicing as a registered architect and project manager for over 30 years. He has held key management positions in ENR top 500 Architecture and Engineering firms and has been involved in all aspects of project development. Dennis’ experience includes programming and design, project management, office management, construction documentation and construction administration. His expertise in Project Management covers a wide range of project types including: complex high-tech and mission critical projects such as a micro-chip manufacturing facility, radar test complexes, software and electronics development labs with high levels of physical and electronic security requirements (SCIFS and RF shielded anechoic chambers), education facilities for science and technology as well as commercial office and retail facilities.
Dennis and his wife live in the Washington D.C. metro area with their four children who range in age from 8 to 16.
Ed holds a BSc Degree in Building Construction from the College of Architecture at Virginia Tech. He is a seasoned construction professional with over 35+ years in Construction & Development Project Management. His experience spans projects collectively valued at over $2 billion, including leading project teams of estimators, schedulers, architects and engineers, project managers, general contractors, and sub-contractors across multiple phases of larger developments with $200+ million project budgets with over 1,100 in daily onsite manpower. Ed is a results-driven professional with invaluable experience covering a wide range of project types including Mixed-Use, Senior Living, Multi-family, Healthcare, Media/data, Mission Critical, Power, Government, Institutional, Education, Financial, Hospitality, Commercial, Retail and Historical properties. He is skilled and a trusted advisor to clients undertaking large projects and needing support across multiple functions from hiring of consultants and contractors to establishing budgets and schedules. He is team oriented and thrives in establishing effective collaborative work environments with government officials, design teams, contractors, and clients alike.
Ed has held a Virginia Class A Contractor’s License, was a former member of the National Board of Directors of the American Institute of Constructors, Construction Certification Commission, as well a Certified Professional Constructor (CPC).
Luis is a U.S.M.C. Veteran and Sr. Project Manager with experience in all aspects of Data Center Construction, Power Plants, and Pumping station commissioning. Luis has traveled throughout the U.S., Venezuela, and Ireland working within the Data Center and Commissioning industry.
Luis obtained his MBA in Acquisitions and Contract Law from Strayer University in VA and is an active member of the Project Management Institute (PMI) Washington DC Chapter. Luis is also a member of the Alph Sigma Lambda, Alpha Chi National College Honor Society, and Golden Key Honour Society.
Luis enjoys hiking, reading, chess, and a game of dominos with friends and family.
Mathias Choma, PMP, is a Senior Project Manager for Himes Associates, Ltd. He received his Bachelor of Science in Construction Management Technology from the University of Maryland.
Mathias brings 10 years of Project Management experience to the team and has accomplished managing complex modernization construction, procurement and development projects for public and private sectors. He has a history of being a leader and partner to clients, while achieving high-quality outcomes for his projects.
In his free time, Mathias enjoys golfing, spending time with his family, playing soccer, reading, and watching great movies.
Cassandra Bard is the Marketing Manager for Himes Associates, Ltd. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science from James Madison University. She is from the Charlottesville, Virginia area.
Cassandra has prior experience with digital and print marketing, promotional materials, event management, content creation, and sales/marketing strategy. She is happy to be a part of a wonderful team here at Himes Associates.
In her free time, Cassandra enjoys traveling, working out, reading, visiting new restaurants, listening to podcasts, and exploring the DC area.
Kirk started his career as an electrician working in the commercial/industrial side of construction. From there, as opportunities came available, he moved into facilities and maintenance roles and learned additional aspects of the electrical field as well as learning new skills in the HVAC industry. It was during this time that he began to support IT teams on their new data center for PMs and upgrades. Over the next 12 years while managing, moving, building and renovating data centers, he focused on learning all that he could about the data center industry so that he could have a better understanding of the implications of decisions taken. To that end, he is currently pursuing a Masters in Data Center Leadership and Management through CNet and Anglia Ruskin University to add to the credentials in data center management, audit, design, sustainability and energy he has obtained.
When time allows, he likes to spend time with his family, hike, camp and to read broadly, from SciFi to History and biographies.
James Whitely is a Senior Construction Project Manager with over 15 years of experience and has an education background in Construction Management and Information Systems. Prior to his time as a Project Manager James started his career in the field as a carpenter, this helped him gain a practical and technical understanding of building codes and building techniques and methods. James has gone on to manage a diverse portfolio of construction projects from the commercial and residential sector, but also brings experience managing special construction projects such as medical facilities, aquariums, and indoor family attractions.
In his spare time James enjoys reading fiction, traveling with his wife to archaeological and historical sites throughout the world, and playing with his dogs.
Brittany is a licensed electrical engineer, proud Penn Stater, and Senior Project Manager at Himes. She brings a passion for sustainability and clean energy with over 10 years of project and program management experience in the A&E and energy industries. With a master’s degree in Architectural Engineering, she started her career in lighting & electrical design in New York City before moving to DC with an ENR Top 100 firm. Prior to joining Himes, she managed a $400M infrastructure investment portfolio at the Air Force Office of Energy Assurance and led business development for a tech startup in Baltimore.
Brittany is also a commissioned civil engineer in the Maryland Air National Guard. When she’s away from the office you’ll find her outside on an adventure with her husband and two little ones, planning a party, or working on her latest creative project.
Charlie is very happy to be part of the team at Himes Associates, Ltd. as Project Coordinator in support of Vantage Data Centers. After receiving his Bachelor of Science in Apparel, Housing, and Resource Management from Virginia Tech, he returned to his hometown of Annandale, VA where he began his experience in residential construction as a carpenter and remodeling professional. After completing the CSC-Construction Supervision program and OSHA 30-hour certification through Northern Virginia Community College, Charlie worked as an independent contractor supervising projects for multiple general contractors in Northern Virginia. In addition to almost 10 years of residential construction experience, he also worked as a sales representative and assistant branch manager for a leading wholesale distributor of appliances, HVAC equipment/supplies, appliance parts, tools, and accessories, which allowed him to develop skills in sales and in inventory and warehouse management, as well as to further his skills in customer service and vendor relations.
In his spare time, Charlie spends time with his wife and family, as well as his dog, Chunk. He is an avid birder and collector, and enjoys being outdoors, travelling, music, and photography.
Allie is a Project Manager with 6+ years of experience in many sectors including Healthcare, Senior Living, Education, and TI. She has experience overseeing hospital and ambulatory projects to electrical installations for a start-up across the country. Allie graduated from the University of Maryland and still loves to cheer on the Terps on gamedays! In her spare time, Allie loves to travel, try new restaurants in DC with her friends, go to f45 class, and hang out with her two Labradoodles.
Coco is the Chief Morale Officer at Himes and has been awarded Employee of the Month for 36 consecutive months. She brings exceptional value to our team through her ability to Get Stuff Done. Coco’s main job duties include chasing stuffed animals, picking up crumbs that have fallen on the floor and finding the sunny spot in the office to nap. When not at work, Coco enjoys going on adventures with our CEO Paul Himes in his airplane, trying new treats and meeting new people.
