Covad

Project Scope

Himes Associates, Ltd was brought on board in August 1999 to provide development management services for Covad’s 100,000 SF customer and network support facility in Manassas, Virginia, including up front site development services and land purchase negotiations.

The project broke ground in November 1999 and was occupied in May 2000, an aggressive six month schedule that included raising a significant portion of the 16-acre site seven feet. The facility operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, and includes heavy redundant power and HVAC requirements to monitor and service an extensive DSL network. Two temporary facilities in Manassas Virginia were also renovated and occupied during the project to maintain customer support operations. Upon completion of the Manassas facility Himes Associates provided full project management services for a 68,000 square foot regional call center in Alpharetta, Georgia, a 63,000 square foot project for Covad’s Virtual Internet Service Provider division in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, and a 12,000 square foot sales/support office in Schaumburg, Illinois.
